Montego Bay History Tour – Perfect for Cruise Ships and all arrivals

You will be picked up approximately 9:00am from your hotel or cruise ship where you are taken on a tour through one of Montego Bay’s top residential areas which features some of our beautiful Jamaican Homes. After descending from the hills of Spring Farm you now enter the resort area of Rose Hall. You then are driven into Montego Bay for your further information and shopping expedition.

The tour now continues on the Hip Strip where your first stop for picture taking and shopping at Fort Montego. There is a crafts market there that you can purchase Jamaican handicrafts and straw merchandise. You are there for approximately half and hour and you continue to Montego Bay’s premier duty free shopping area namely City Center. You will be there for approximately a hour and a half. These shops offer the best of perfumes, jewelry and all other luxury items.

Continuing after City Center you will make your next stop this being at the Sam Sharp Square where one of our national hero Samuel Sharp was hanged for his rebellious activities. There are some excellent statues there that you should take pictures of including the dungeon where slaves were locked up. Across from the square you will also visit the Civic Center museum where you will be able to relics of our past from the Taino Indians to the British.

You are then taken to the old St. James Parish Church for a walking tour giving you a history of one of Jamaica’s oldest churches. In that area lies entombed is the graveyard of many of the outstanding citizens of that time.

On leaving the St. James Parish Church you now go on to the Dome and very unusual brick building that has been there for over a hundred & fifty years. This was the source of spring water which was sufficed for the village of Montego Bay at that time.

Your final stop is optional. Should you want to have lunch, you will be taken to the internationally known Pork Pit where true Jamaican jerk pork and chicken is served with an assortment of other Jamaican ingredients. There is also a bar available with all kinds of drinks. Lunch is on your own.

Length of tour is approximately 4 - 4 1/2 hours, taking you back to your hotel or cruise ship on time.
